Evaluations

Tre Burton is a versatile athlete who has shown consistent growth on the hardwood, gridiron and track. Burton is a skilled guard who can push the ball up the court with tremendous speed and control. This summer he showed his ability to handle the ball well while being pressed, forcing defenses to exhaust themselves in an effort to stop his momentum. Defensively Burton is always on his toes with his head on a swivel. His speed disrupts the opponents offensive strategies, often times creating a chaotic need to force baskets and forcing turnovers.

This past AAU season Burton played for the Renegades out of Lansing, MI. Headed into his freshman season, Burton will be attending Lansing Waverly. With a loaded varsity squad, we expect Burton to spend his freshman season playing on the Waverly JV team. Tre is a varsity caliber athlete right now, and would play big minutes for the majority of varsity squads in the 517. We expect Tre to be one of the top performers in the 517 freshman class this season.

Tre Burton made his high school debut as the Waverly JV hosted Detroit Catholic Central in their season opener. Burton took the helm for the young Warriors squad and did not disappoint. As a freshman Burton looks very comfortable bringing the ball up the court and steering the offense. He is a vocal leader, who has quickly earned the respect of his teammates. Offensively he showed the ability to get to the hoop with ease. He facilitates the ball and puts his teammates in high percentage situations to score. Burton disrupted the Shamrocks transition offense, forcing a number of turnovers with his speed and basketball IQ. In the half court he was one step ahead of his opponent making it very difficult for them to operate their offense.

The Warriors fell short with the Shamrocks winning 77-72. Burton finished the game with 20 points.
