Last night the #2 Okemos Wolves traveled to #1 Dewitt to take on the Panthers in a battle of the Bigs. Dewitt’s 6’6″ C/O 2024 Garrett Grewe and 6’5″ C/O 2024 Luke Hanselman went head to head with Okemos’s “Treacherous Twins”, 6’5″ Brennan and Colin Walton. The Walton Twins have dominated the paint this season, leading the Wolves to an undefeated start. Dewitt, lead by C/O 2024 Adam Flannery has also had a lot of success with an undefeated start until last night.

Dewitt started the game off strong with some outside perimeter shooting from C/O 2024 Guard, Zack Nevison and C/O 2027 Freshman Guard, Landon Kurncz. Adam Flannery added to Dewitt’s offense with few strong drives to the basket. The Panther’s would continue to controll the game for the first 11 minutes.

With 6 minutes to go in the second Dewitt lead Okemos 17-9. On a steal from Colin Walton and a few quick paint points from both twins, the momentum of the game began to change and the Waltons quickly took control of the second quarter with Okemos outscoring the Panthers 14-6. The first half ended with the score tied at 23 a piece.

The Wolves came out of the half with a continued dominance in the paint, proving to much for Dewitt to handle. Dewitt’s senior Adam Flannery kept his team alive with 7 points in the third, but the Panther’s chances of a comeback quickly slipped away with team only producing a combined 11 points in the fourth quarter. The Wolves outscored Dewitt 35-26 in the second half and secured their undefeated start with a final score of 58-47.
